Texas drops to seventh place after second round at Rancho Bernardo

Junior Megan Rosenfeld ended the second day of The Battle at Rancho Bernardo tied for fifth place. She birdied the second and bogeyed the first, 10th and 11th holes. Combining yesterday’s even par, she completed two days with a score of 2-over. Rosenfeld is competing as an individual and her scores do not count toward the team. She ranks the highest of all of the golfers competing as individuals.

The team ended the day in seventh place with a score of 33-over after two rounds. The Longhorns finished Monday at 18-over, just two strokes shy of sixth-place UNLV.

Freshman Rebecca Lee-Bentham shot 1-over, putting her two-day total to 6-over and tying her for 17th place overall. She birdied the 10th and 13th holes.

Junior Nicole Vandermade finished only one stroke behind Lee-Bentham with a two-day score of 7-over, good enough to tie her for 21st place. And just one shot shy of Vandermade is sophomore Haley Stephens with 8-over. They both ended Monday’s play at 5-over.

Sophomores Madison Pressel and Katelyn Sepmoree rounded out the team ranked 52nd and 83rd, respectively.

The Longhorns begin the final round of The Battle of Rancho Bernardo on Tuesday with Sepmoree teeing off first.
