Texas A&M’s season opener and SEC opener will now be one and the same
August 29, 2012
The Aggies were scheduled to face Louisiana Tech Saturday but, because of potential safety threats due to Hurricane Isaac, the game has been postponed until Oct. 13. That day previously marked a bye week for both teams before this game was rescheduled. Texas A&M, playing in its first season as a member of the SEC, will now start its year by hosting Florida Sept. 8 at 2:30 p.m.
The Aggies, playing with a new head coach in Kevin Sumlin and a new starting quarterback in freshman Jonny Manziel, will now play 12 Saturdays in a row without a week off. After facing Louisiana Tech, Texas A&M will play four teams that have combined to win four national titles in the last five years — LSU, Auburn and Alabama — three of them on the road.
