What to Watch: March 4-8

At the beginning of every week, we provide a list of opinion-worthy events to expect during the coming week.

The SXSWedu Policy Forum takes place Monday and Tuesday at the Hilton Austin Downtown. Speakers include Texas House and Senate Higher Education Committee chairs Dan Branch, R-Dallas, and Kel Seliger, R-Amarillo. Subjects of discussion include higher education in the 83rd Legislature and the future of college in the Internet Age, a period of “dramatic disruption and innovation.” Visit www.texastribune.org for more information about the times and locations of the many panels, which take place from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. 

On Wednesday, a free informational session about joining the Peace Corps will be held at Starbucks on 504 W. 24th at 5:30 p.m. “If you have two years to spare for one of the most rewarding experiences of your life, come out and learn what the Peace Corps can do for you and what you can do for humanity.”

The Cactus Cafe’s monthly open mic night will be held Wednesday from 7-10 p.m. The event is free and open to the public. Sign up at 7 p.m. to take your turn.
