Texas Longhorn Football reveals new uniform changes

University of Texas football revealed new helmet design today.

The golden anniversary, 50 years for those not familiar with the term, is a time to cherish in marriage and, well, apparently in sports.

This is why the Texas Longhorn football team will don numbers on the side of their helmets against New Mexico State Saturday evening, in honor of the school’s 1963 title-winning team – Texas’ first national championship in program history.

The Darrell Royal-led squad finished at 11-0 that season, capping off their title run with a 28-6 win over Navy and Roger Staubach in the Cotton Bowl.

Coupled with the new helmet decal is a snazzy, groundbreaking look to the uniform itself: numbers will now be on top of the shoulders instead of on the side. This change almost completely alters the way you view football, at least that’s how it appeared when Texas representatives glowingly spoke about the change for five minutes Monday.

To be fair, it is a sharp look. The numbers on the top of the shoulders look streamlined with the form-fitting mesh jerseys. Plus, the new Longhorn logo in the middle of the chest looks sweet.

So keep your eyes open this Saturday, Texas fans, huge fashion changes are coming your way.
