Men’s cross country finishes third at Big 12 Championship

After a disappointing 18th place finish at the Wisconsin Invitational, the Texas men’s cross country team returned to action at the Big 12 Championship in Waco on Nov. 2.

Texas placed third with 80 points in the team standings and qualified for the NCAA South Regional.

The Longhorns were led by senior Ryan Dohner, who finished in fourth place with a time of 22:57.1, and junior Craig Lutz in sixth.

With their great finishes, Dohner and Lutz earned All-Big 12 honors.

Other runners for Texas were junior Mark Pinales, who finished in 24th, followed by senior Collin Smith in 25th, graduate student Chris Galvin in 26th, senior Austin Roth in 28th, senior Eduardo Rodriguez in 33rd, senior Will Nation in 38th and sophomore Nate Moore in 45th.

Oklahoma State won its sixth consecutive Big 12 Championship, Iowa State finished in second and Texas Tech’s Kennedy Kithuka won the Big 12 individual title.

Texas will continue their championship push at the NCAA South Regional in Waco on Nov. 15.
