Big 12 announces 2014 schedule

Texas will start its 2014 Big 12 schedule with an away game at Kansas, the conference announced Tuesday morning.

The Big 12 on Tuesday released its 2014 conference schedule, which gives the Longhorns two bye weeks — one at the beginning and one at the end of the season.

The Jayhawks will host Texas on Sept. 27 to open conference play before the Longhorns host Baylor the following week. After the Red River Rivalry in Dallas, Texas plays Iowa State at home before a two-week road trip to face Kansas State on Oct. 25 and Texas Tech on Nov. 1.

Two of Texas’ last three conference games will be at Darrell K Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium against West Virginia and TCU, with a trip to Oklahoma State between those two games.

The Longhorns will play three games in their home state in non-conference play to begin the season. They will host North Texas on Aug. 30, followed by another home contest against Brigham Young University. Their third game of the season will be in Arlington at AT&T Stadium against UCLA to close out the non-conference schedule.
