Women’s golf moves up three spots in Monday’s second round

Junior standout Bertine Strauss continues to lead Texas through the conclusion of Monday’s second round at Northrop Grumman Regional Challenge at Palos Verdes Golf Club.

Strauss shot a three-over-par 74 to put her at five-over-par overall and in 24th place individually. As a team, Texas climbed three spots to reach 12th place going into Tuesday’s final round.

Also helping the Longhorns move up in the standings was freshman Lara Weinstein, who transferred to Texas midseason. Weinstein shot a 74 in round two, climbing nine places on the leaderboard in the second day of her collegiate debut. She finished one spot ahead of her sophomore teammate Tezira Abe, who carded a 75 on the day.

Rounding out the team are sophomore Natalie Karcher and freshman Julia Beck who finished the day in 80th and 87th place, respectively.  Texas tees off for the final round of the tournament Tuesday at 8 a.m.
