Texas’ road woes continue against Texas Tech

No matter what it did, the road woes kept appearing for Texas all season. And on Saturday, they appeared one more time for the Longhorns’ season finale.

Texas (22-9, 11-7 Big 12) took on Texas Tech (14-17, 6-12 Big 12) in Lubbock in an afternoon matchup, which ended in a 59-53 win for the Red Raiders.

“First of all, I’ll say I’m disappointed that we lost this game, but I really am happy for Tubby,” said head coach Rick Barnes. “I’ve known him for a long, long time and I think it’s great what he’s done to rekindle the spirit out here and the fire.”

Jaye Crockett led Texas Tech with a late-game run to pull ahead of the Longhorns. Texas led until the 9:23 mark in the game until the Red Raiders sprouted a comeback to get the eventual season finale win.

Sophomore guard Martez Walker led the Longhorns with 13 points and five rebounds while sophomore center Cameron Ridley followed with 12 points and five rebounds himself.

With their loss, the Longhorns will be seeded third in the Big 12 tournament and will face the sixth seed West Virginia Thursday in Kansas City.
