Places to celebrate Austin’s Pride Week 25th Anniversary this weekend

As Austin’s Pride Week comes to an end, the city plans to end it with a bang. While the main events this weekend are the Austin Pride Festival and Pride Parade, here are some places that plan to join the party.

Saturday

Austin Pride Festival


  • Where: Fiesta Gardens, 2101 Jesse E. Segovia St.
  • When: Saturday 11 a.m.–6 p.m.
  • Admission: $20, all ages

This year marks the 25th anniversary of the Austin Pride Festival, presented by the Austin Gay and Lesbian Pride Foundation. The festival will feature activities, food, drinks, a family-friendly zone, more than 120 vendors and live music.

  • Motherz Presents: Pride3 at Fado
  • Where: Fado Irish Pub Austin, 214 W Fourth St
  • When: Saturday 5 p.m.–Sunday 2 a.m.
  • Admission: Free

Local duo Motherz will present a set of disco, retro, house and techno music featuring DJs Jason Jenkins, Marcus Lefty Shaw, Mary Magdalena and more.

ATX Women’s Pride Party

  • Where: One-2-One Bar, 1509 S Lamar Blvd #600
  • When: Saturday 7:30 p.m.
  • Admission: $10, 21+

With more than 300 women and friends expected to attend, this third annual event will feature live music from The Susan Arbuckle Band, dancing and drinks.

Austin Pride Parade

  • Where: Begins at Texas State Capitol, 1100 Congress Ave
  • When: Saturday 8 p.m.
  • Admission: Free, all ages

One of the largest event of Pride Weekend, last year’s Austin Pride Parade welcomed more than 125,000 attendees. This year, there will be over 120 parade participants, floats, special performances and more. There will be two emcee stages   one on Congress Avenue, and one on the roof of Rain on 4th. The parade will kick off at the Capitol, proceed down Congress and ends at the Republic Square Park.

Queer Up Charlies All-Stars Unofficial Pride Afterparty

  • Where: Cheer Up Charlies, 900 Red River St.
  • When: Saturday 10 p.m.
  • Admission: $5, 21+

Join the crowd at Cheer Up Charlies for live music from singer and dancer Viva Ruiz, Mouthfeel, Dylz Pillz, House of Kenzo and more.

Latin Fever

  • Where: El Sol y La Luna Restaurant, 600 E. Sixth St.
  • When: Saturday 11 p.m.–Sunday 2 a.m.
  • Admission: Pre-sale $5, Door $10

One of Pride Weekend’s only Latino-oriented events, Latin Fever will be hosted by Cynthia Lee Fontaine with special guests Erika L. Mykels, and Kara Foxx Paris.

Sunday

Show Your Horns

  • Where: Highland Lounge, 404 Colorado St.
  • When: Sunday 2 p.m.–5 p.m.
  • Admission: Free

The Texas Exes LGBT Alumni Network is using its monthly social to close out Pride week. Longhorns are invited to have a good time as they revisit old classmates, expand their network and learn more about their community.

(Unofficial) ATX Pride Tea Dance

  • Where: Cheer Up Charlies, 900 Red River St.
  • When: 4:00 p.m.–9 p.m.
  • Admission: Free, 21+

Cheer Up Charlies’ Sunday event  tea dance where “prideful, gender matrix random queerness is the jam” — will end the week’s celebration with revealing wardrobe, music and drink specials.

  • Super Sunday Diva Show ft. Raven
  • Where: Oilcan Harrys, 211 W. Fourth St.
  • When: Sunday 10:30 p.m.
  • Admission: Free, 21+

At this week’s Super Sunday Diva Show, RuPaul’s Drag Race’s Raven will be the special guest, hosted by Kelly Kline. The series’ cast will also pay tribute to the show’s co-host Mr. Jenny McCall who passed away this week.
