Update (10:55 p.m.): Texas defeated Kansas, 59-20 on Saturday.

The Longhorns racked up 598 total yards. Redshirt freshman Jerrod Heard and junior quarterback Tyrone Swoopes threw for a combined 299 yards and two touchdowns.

Texas sophomore running back D'Onta Foreman rushed for a game-high 157 yards and two touchdowns.

The Longhorns' 59 points against Kansas were the most points scored under head coach Charlie Strong.

Texas (4-5, 3-4 Big 12) travels to play West Virginia next Saturday.

Update (8:55 p.m.): The Longhorns jumped out to a quick start against the Jayhawks with an 84-yard touchdown pass from redshirt quarterback Jerrod Heard to freshman wide receiver John Burt. Texas entered the half with a 24-14 lead.

Texas added a field goal and two touchdown runs from junior quarterback Tyrone Swoopes in the ’18 wheeler’ package.

Texas defense started strong with an interception and its special teams recovered a muffed punt. But the Jayhawks offense was able to gash the Longhorn offense. They scored 14 points and had opportunities to score more — however, a fourth down and goal run went awry and a late-half field goal was no good.

Update (7:00 p.m.): The Longhorns look to rebound from a shutout loss to Iowa State when they take on winless Kansas at 7 p.m. at Darrell K Royal – Texas Memorial Stadium.

Texas needs a win against the Jayhawks to help its bowl chances. The Longhorns need to win three of their four remaining games to become bowl eligible.
