Longhorn jumpers and vaulters showed depth on Saturday morning with several placings. In the triple jump, junior Nick Phynn flew to first place with a jump of 15.03 meters, more than a full meter ahead of the next competitor.

In long jump, senior Basil Fares finished fourth with a jump of 6.91 meters. Junior high jumper Spencer McCloud finished second with a jump of 2.05 meters. The freshmen shined in pole vault as Barrett Poth edged out senior Reese Watson for the second place finish. Following behind was freshman Blake Scott in sixth. Sophomore thrower Alan Zapalac and freshman thrower Brian Peterson had strong finishes in the hammer throw and discus. Zapalac finished third in the hammer throw with a mark of 56.43 meters. Brian Peterson finished second with a throw of 52.60 meters in discus.

Next week, the Longhorns will travel to California for the Power Conference Cardinal & Gold Challenge to take on USC, Florida and Ohio State.
