No. 8 Texas rowing put in a consistent showing in the first day of the Clemson Invite on Saturday afternoon.

Texas finished in the top three in each of their ten races, while No. 3 Virginia, No. 4 Ohio State and No. 10 Michigan proved to be its toughest competitors.

Texas started the day well in the first Varsity 8 race, winning the race with a time of 6:44.3 while beating Michigan by over 3 seconds. However, Texas fell to Ohio State and Virginia in the next Varsity 8 race to finish third with a 6:23.7 time.

The Longhorns rowed a time of 6:59.5 to take second place in the morning 2nd Varsity 8 race, only being beaten by Michigan. In the afternoon race, Texas finished third, behind Ohio State and Virginia.

In the first Varsity 4 race, Texas took third place with a time of 7:47.3 as it fell to Michigan and narrowly lost to Harvard by .3 seconds. The Longhorns finished second in the second Varsity 4 race of the day, coming in three seconds behind Virginia.

In the second Varsity 4 morning race, the Michigan Wolverines beat Texas by about seven seconds to give the Longhorns second place. Texas didn’t fare much better in the 2nd Varsity 4 afternoon race, when it fell to Virginia and Ohio State.

Texas again took second place in the morning 3rd Varsity 8 race, narrowly falling to Virginia with a time of 7:05.2. However, the Longhorns easily beat the competition in the 3rd Varsity 8 afternoon race, beating second place Louisville by six seconds.

The Longhorns will row in the third and final session tomorrow morning at 7:30 a.m., where they will get one more chance to row in each race.
