Student voters in line at the Flawn Academic Center or University Co-Op polling locations on Election Day faced some of the longest lines in Travis County, according to the County Clerk’s website.
Polls opened at 7 a.m. today, and FAC and Co-Op wait times quickly grew to between 1 and 2 hours. In most other Austin locations, the average wait time is less than 30 minutes, according to the Travis County Clerk’s website.
Registered voters who arrive at their polling place before they close at 7 p.m. will still be permitted to vote as long as they are already in line.
Early voting in Travis County began on Oct. 24 and ended Friday. Austin saw record early voting turnout with about 51 percent of voters turning out before Election Day, up from 37.4 percent in 2012 and 49.6 percent in the 2008 presidential election.
