Matthew Searfoss, who is suspected of assaulting a UT student near the 7-Eleven on Guadalupe Street Tuesday, was taken into custody by APD on Thursday.
The victim claimed she was punched in the face by the man identified as Searfoss and was later taken to the hospital.
An APD officer recognized Searfoss from the victim’s description of the suspect because Searfoss was last in the Travis County Jail on Oct. 3. The victim later identified Searfoss as the suspect in a photo lineup.
Searfoss now faces a charge of assault with injury and his bail is set at $10,000.
