The Austin Police Department has identified a person of interest for an assault by contact case that took place on Guadalupe Street on Jan. 21.

The UT Police Department sent out a safety alert through email Jan. 21 notifying the UT community of an off-campus incident involving a man pulling down the pants and underwear of a female UT student.

One of the females heard a whistle, turned around and looked but didn’t see anybody.

Ten days after the incident took place, APD has now identified the person of interest in this incident and released his photos. APD and UTPD are asking for anyone who may have information about the person of interest to call 911.

The student was walking near Tyler’s on Guadalupe around 3:00 a.m. with a group of people when the incident took place.

APD has now classified the incident as an assault by contact. UTPD and APD are working together on the case.
