With Student Government campaigns in full swing, we turn our attention to an election of our own. Janhavi Nemawarkar, Cuillin Chastain-Howley, and Liza Anderson, three of the opinion department’s current editors, are running to serve as The Daily Texan’s next Editor-in-Chief.

To present their cases to the student body, the candidates will each be writing a pair of editorials. In the first series, which makes up today’s Forum, they were tasked with calling for an improvement to some aspect of student housing, from affordability to leases to accessibility. The prompt was left open-ended to allow each candidate to focus on the issue they found most important or pressing. Next week, the candidates will write on topics of their own choosing.

For further coverage of Student Government elections, be sure to join us at today’s Executive Alliance debate (7:00 p.m. in SAC 1.402), where candidates for student body president and vice president, as well as university-wide representative, will present their platforms and visions for the Forty Acres. If you have an opinion to share on the elections or anything else, don’t hesitate to reach out to us at [email protected]. We look forward to hearing from you!
