It’s been a tough week to be a Longhorn fan.

A week after Texas Football lost its top overall recruit of the 2019 class, Texas Women’s Basketball finds itself in a similar predicament.

Sedona Prince, ESPN’s No. 8 overall prospect of the 2018 class, announced her transfer from Texas on Wednesday morning via Twitter.

“Thank you so much to the University of Texas for a fantastic year, but I have asked and received my transfer release due to medical reasons,” Prince said in a statement released on Twitter. “I appreciate your support Longhorn nation, and I’ll always be thankful for the love and acceptance I have received throughout this past year.”

Prince redshirted the 2018-19 season after suffering a leg injury that required multiple surgeries.

The former high school All-American was one of two five-star recruits in head coach Karen Aston’s incredibly strong 2018 recruiting class. Prince would have joined freshman standout Charli Collier and veteran Joyner Holmes in returning to the frontcourt. Prince’s transfer marks the second for Texas in the past year.

The Liberty Hill, Texas, native did not hint at any possible transfer destinations.
