A Travis County resident has been diagnosed with measles for the first time since 1999, according to a press release sent Sunday from Austin Public Health.

Austin Public Health will be coordinating with health departments throughout Central Texas to inform people who may have been at locations when the person with measles was there, according to the release. 

The locations and dates of potential exposure sites include: 

• Chipotle Mexican Grill, 6301 W. Parmer Lane on the evening of Dec. 14.
• HEB, 6001 W. Parmer Lane from Dec. 14 to Dec. 16.
• Saam Thai, 6301 W. Parmer Lane on Dec. 15.
• Mandola’s Italian, 4700 W. Guadalupe St. from Dec. 15 to Dec. 16
• Target, 10107 Research Blvd on Dec. 16 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.
• Marco’s Pizza, 11011 Research Blvd on Dec. 16 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.
• Austin-Bergstrom International Airport, 3600 Presidential Blvd (United Airlines, Gate 29 area) on Dec. 16 from noon to 4 p.m.

• The dates and locations are subject to change as Austin Public Health gathers more information, according to the release.

Austin Public Health advised in the press release for residents to call their doctors if they’ve been to the locations above at the listed dates and develop a fever before Jan. 1. Residents who have received at least two MMR vaccinations for measles are protected, according to the release.

“Measles is an acute, highly contagious viral disease,” said Dr. Mark Escott, the interim health authority and medical director for Austin Public Health. “A small number of cases are capable of quickly producing epidemics. The best way to protect yourself and your family against measles and other vaccine-preventable diseases is by immunization."
