We want to hear from you

Tomorrow is the first day back from spring break, but it doesn’t feel like it. Most of us are hundreds of miles away from campus, stuck in our homes to fight the spread of a pandemic. Those of us who are on campus are living in a ghost town.

Right now, it’s easy to be lonely.

Our opinion page has long been a place where students, faculty and members of the community can share their stories. Now that campus is shut down and it is harder than ever to stay connected, the opinion page is one more crucial place to bridge the miles that divide us.

We want to hear your stories and share your experiences. Though we are all affected by coronavirus, we are all affected differently. We want to use The Daily Texan as a platform to promote understanding and solidarity, and to fight the loneliness that all of us are experiencing. We can only do that with your help.

We’ve made a form where you can tell us your stories, and we can share them through the Texan. Our Forum editors, Julia Zaksek and Maggie Lazaroski, will also be shifting our Forum coverage by reaching out to students, faculty and community members about their experiences during this pandemic. This is your paper, and in this unprecedented time we want to feature as many of your voices as we can.

So if your plans to study abroad were canceled, we want to hear about it. If you’re taking care of your family and friends, we want to hear about it. If you’re scared or lonely or frustrated, we want to hear about it.

Most importantly, you are not alone. We are here to listen, and our inbox is always open.

The editorial board is composed of associate editors Abhirupa Dasgupta, Hannah Lopez, Sanika Nayak, Abby Springs and editor-in-chief Spencer Buckner.

We want to hear from you. Use this form to share your stories with us so that we can share them with the UT community. We want to make campus feel like a less lonely place.
