• This week on the opinion pages

It’s Fourth of July week, and this week’s editorial pages have got you covered:

    — First up, the editorial board considers the implications of moving the annual fireworks show out to the Circuit of the Americas rather than keeping it in town. We think the move, which is being made without any provision for transportation to the event site, will hurt students, many of whom don’t have cars and can’t afford the hefty cab fare.

    — Next, senior columnist and military veteran John Daywalt urges us to remember why we are celebrating this Fourth of July.

    — Rounding out the holiday commentary is Kate Barbee’s editorial cartoon on the coincidence of Independence Day with the ongoing VA wait time scandal.

We also have a column from associate editor Noah Horwitz, who spent the weekend at the Democratic State Convention in Dallas, as well as another Postcard from Abroad, this time from Prague.
