Horns disappointed with fourth-down efforts

Fourth-down success eluded the Longhorns on both sides of the ball against West Virginia.
On defense, Texas allowed Geno Smith and his offense to go 5-for-5 on fourth downs.
On the other side of the ball, the Longhorns went one for three on fourth down conversions. In the first quarter, Ash had an incomplete pass to Mike Davis on fourth and four.
“We had it,” said head coach Mack Brown. “We didn't complete it but we had two guys there that were open enough to catch the ball.”
They went for it on 4th-and-13 in the third quarter, but the pass was incomplete for Davis. Brown made the decision to go for it on fourth down because of the rate that the West Virginia offense was getting yards.
