Report: Johnathan Gray tears Achilles for second time

Former running back Johnathan Gray tore his Achilles for the second time in his Texas career earlier this week, UT athletics announced Thursday. He underwent surgery to repair the injury on Thursday, according to Texas.

The injury is just the latest in a line of injuries for Gray during his time as a Longhorn. He injured his right Achilles in 2013 at West Virginia and missed the final four games of that season. He then suffered a turf toe in 2015 and missed the final two games of the season.

The Austin American-Statesman reported that the injury was to his left Achilles and came during a workout in the Dallas-Fort Worth area as Gray geared up for Texas’ pro day this spring.

Gray finished his college career with 2,188 rushing yards and 14 touchdowns.
