Herman hires former Baylor assistant to special teams staff

The Longhorns added another piece to their coaching staff Wednesday afternoon. Casey Horny announced via Twitter that he has been hired to head coach Tom Herman’s staff.

Horny, a graduate assistant at Texas along with Herman during the 2000 season, will be the Longhorns’ special teams quality control coach.

Horny spent nine seasons at Baylor, wearing the tag of the Bears’ assistant director of football operations. Horny defended former Baylor coach Art Briles in the wake of the program’s sexual assault scandal. Briles was fired for not dealing with allegations of sexual assault that involved his players.

Horny was the assistant director of football operations in charge of quality control at Baylor.  He tweeted a photo with himself and Herman. The tweet read:
“Heading back to Horn Country to join some old friends. Look forward to bringing trophies back to Austin. Hook ‘Em”
