Planned Parenthood loses Texas Women's Health Program funding

Governor Rick Perry and a federal court of appeals confirmed Oct. 25 Planned Parenthood will not continue to receive funding from the Texas Women’s Health Program.

The court refused to reexamine the case, arguing that Texas Women’s Health should not have to fund a program that promotes voluntary abortion. Planned Parenthood provides services to those who do not have access to other family planning or health services.

To compensate for cutting funding for their largest system of health care providers, Texas Women’s Health Program plans to redirect a portion of the budget to the growing number of doctors and clinics that provide essential women’s services.
