Halloween Thriller

The Austin School for Performing and Visual Arts attracted crowds downtown by giving a special Halloween performance of Michael Jackson’s Thriller. Christian Nevarez seen in the red military jacket led his group’s performance which included an undead cheerleader and hospital patient. The students dressed in full costume and make up, staying in zombie-like character such as Aleta Neill and Alex Maurice who walked through the streets creeping out curious onlookers. The group paraded block to block starting from the state capitol and ending at the Frost Bank. Executive director of ASPVA Carol de Cardenas said that the students only had a month to prepare but that it was a great opportunity for them to get out and perform the way they did.
