Texas softball continues to expand its roster during the off-season, growing its team for the upcoming year.

Head coach Connie Clark announced two new signees, Paige von Sprecken, a former University of San Diego pitcher/utility player, and Celina Felix, former Mt. San Antonio College infielder, to the Longhorns' roster.

Clark said Sprecken, a right-handed pitcher, will add depth to the team’s rotation.

"She possesses size, strength and great upside,” Clark said. “I can't wait to get her in the bullpen and work. She can swing the bat as well and provides another power option for our team from the right side of the plate."

As part of the USD softball team, Sprecken led the team in overall games won by a pitcher, 38 appearances and 29 starts. Her batting average was .227, and she pitched 199 innings, which helped her receive multiple honors, such as being named the March San Diego Hall of Champions Star.

Clark said they hope Felix will end up playing a big role for the team starting next season.

“She is one of the nation's top hitters in [California Community College Athletic Association] and will provide a powerful right-handed option at the plate for us next season,” Clark said. “We anticipate her making an immediate impact for our team."

To add to her impressive hitting resume, Felix never struck out in a total of 138 plate appearances.

Clark announced the three parts of the 2015–2016 signing class — outfielder Reagan Hathaway, infielder Christina Bardwell and outfielder Bekah Alcozer — last year.

“These players will definitely help us continue our long tradition of competing for championships in both the Big 12 Conference and nationally,” Clark said.
