Head coach Shaka Smart dialed up full-court pressure early in Ames, Iowa, and his defense didn’t disappoint, holding Iowa State scoreless for six minutes during a 17-0 Longhorn run in the middle of the first half Tuesday night.
Texas had hope in the first half of play against No. 6 Baylor on Monday night. With a two-point deficit going into halftime, the defense gave the Longhorns a fighting chance to take control of the game.
In the first game against West Virginia on Jan. 9, redshirt junior guard Andrew Jones drained a game-winning 3-pointer on the road to bring Texas to 10–1 on the season and 4–1 in games decided by five points or less.
