In the first training in collaboration with the Austin Police and Transportation Departments, 15 Austin citizens were trained Saturday to issue tickets to those improperly parked in accessible parking spaces.
With drivers often failing to yield while turning at busy roadways, Noah Vaughan said they were hit by cars various times while bicycling. Vaughan, a UT alumni, said while bicycling around the crowded spaces of Austin is convenient, it is unsafe.
Armed with paint brushes, gardening tools and hammers, members of the UT community volunteered in St. Johns, an Austin neighborhood, on Saturday as part of The Project, UT’s largest annual day of service.
