As the decade comes to a close, Texas is still trying to find its way back to the right path. The 2010s have been a forgettable decade for the Longhorns. Eight seasons of at least five losses and multiple appearances in the Texas Bowl and Alamo Bowl leave the 2018 Sugar Bowl win over Georgia as one of the lone bright spots for the program.
Texas Football has fired defensive coordinator Todd Orlando and wide receivers coach Drew Mehringer, according to a press release on Sunday. They have also re-assigned offensive coordinator Tim Beck to quarterbacks coach for bowl preparation, while inside receivers coach Corby Meekins will serve in an “administrative capacity.”
For the fifth time this season, the Longhorns were forced to put into words what yet another loss meant for the Texas program. The final thing several players and coaches saw after their loss to Baylor was a giant banner across the Jumbotron at McLane Stadium that read: “Championship Game Bound.”
