In the second home tournament of the season, the Longhorns continued their dominance at Red and Charline McCombs Field, going 5–0 in the Texas Invitational to sweep the weekend’s competition by a combined score of 30-4.
Stepping up to the plate in the sixth inning, Bekah Alcozer needed to make something happen. With the bases loaded and Texas desperately needing some timely hitting after falling to 2-0 with Ole Miss, Alcozer and infielder Shannon Rhodes delivered.
On Saturday morning, in the first close game of the year for the Texas, the Longhorns came through in the clutch, defeating No. 18 Kentucky on a walk-off RBI single from first baseman Kaitlyn Washington.
After taking part in four games over just two days last weekend, the Longhorns had only one day of practice before they begin competition in the St. Pete/Clearwater Elite Invitation in Florida on Thursday.
