Texas continued its winning ways this weekend, taking first place in the Insperity Augusta State Invitational in Augusta, Ga.
The event victory marked the second consecutive tournament win and sixth overall this season for No. 1 Texas. After finishing the first three rounds of the two-day tournament in a tie for first place with Augusta State, the Longhorns came out on top in a two-hole playoff to claim the victory.
The Longhorns were led by senior Dylan Fritelli, who finished second among individual scorers in the tournament with an overall score of 203. In addition, freshman Jordan Spieth finished second among Longhorns and fifth overall by shooting a 10-under-par 206.
The Longhorns, who won four consecutive tournaments earlier in the season, failed to win two events in a row before beginning their current win streak at the Morris Williams Intercollegiate in Austin two weeks ago. They will look to stretch their win streak to three events at the two-day Western Intercollegiate in Santa Cruz, Calif., which begins April 14.
