Longhorns dominate field, show depth

Texas took command early and delivered a strong finish to sweep the competition in their two-day quad meet with Virginia, Penn State and West Virginia.

Improving to 7-1 on the season, the Longhorns’ won both the one-meter and two-meter diving events and eight of the swimming events, abetted by the contributions of several freshman.

Newcomer Madisyn Cox gave Texas its first individual swimming victory of the meet with a win in the 200 IM before adding a second place finish in the 200 breaststroke and concluding with a victory in the 400 IM. 


Fellow freshman Brynne Wong was runner-up in the 100 butterfly with a time of 54.91 while teammate Tasija Karosas finished third in the 100 backstroke. Virginia native, junior Kaitlin Pawlowicz, won the 200 butterfly and claimed second in both the 1,000-yard freestyle and the 400 IM.
