The Longhorns round out their fall competitive season with the annual Texas Invitational, which began Thursday at the Lee and Joe Jamail Texas Swimming Center.

No. 9 Texas will face off against No. 24 Penn State, No. 19 UCLA, No. 15 Arizona, No. 7 USC, BYU, Wisconsin, UC Santa Barbara, Oklahoma Baptist and Harvard in the three-day meet. In its only other meeting this year, Texas routed Penn State by a 242-111 margin and now looks to figure into top contention with USC at this week’s competition. Under second-year head coach Carol Capitani, the Longhorns have won four of their five swimming meets this fall, with their only loss being to Texas A&M, against whom they finished second by four points.

Freshman Madisyn Cox looks to cap off a highly productive first semester in which she has posted nine individual victories.

USC head coach Dave Salo, now in his eighth season, was recently nominated for Coach of the Year at USA Swimming’s Golden Goggles Awards.
