Men’s tennis make history with three consecutive sweeps

The Longhorns produced their third consecutive sweep Sunday as they defeated Arkansas 7-0.

Highlighted by junior Jacoby Lewis and senior Sudanwa Sitaram at the No. 3 spot, Texas clinched the doubles point to take a quick lead. Juniors Soren Hess-Olsen and Lloyd Glasspool followed suit with a double win of their own, while Arkansas took the No. 2 spot after a tiebreaker.

Junior Clement Homs appeared in his first career singles match where he won 6-2, 6-0. Texas took all five of its other dual matches as the Longhorns won their third sweep of the season, the first time in program history they have started with three shutout victories.

“We like our team; we like the way we have trained this season,” head coach Michael Center said. “We played a complete match today. They proved that we can put different people in and have them contribute.”

Texas now looks ahead to Jan. 25 when it returns to action at the ITA Kick-Off Weekend in Nashville, Tenn.
