Waiver Wire: Get ‘em before they’re gone!

For those of you in a fantasy basketball league looking for some ways to improve your team, here is a list of players you may want to consider picking up this week. This list is typically for the standard 12-team league.

SG, SF Terrence Ross (TOR): On Jan. 25, Ross had a career game with 51 points and nine rebounds against the Los Angeles Clippers. Obviously, he won’t put up those kinds of numbers in the future, but Ross seems to be emerging. In his three games since that explosion, Ross is averaging 13.3 points, 5.3 rebounds and 3.0 assists per game. He has also seen an increase in minutes as of late due to the injury to starting guard DeMar Derozan. Ross is worth picking up while Derozan is out.

PF, C Andre Blatche (BKN): While he is battling a hip injury right now, it doesn’t seem to be all that serious. Blatche is the definition of streaky, but he is on a good streak barring any setback with his hip. Blatche is on a roll as he is averaging 13.0 points, 6.6 rebounds and 1.14 steals in his last seven contests.

SG, SF Corey Brewer (MIN): Brewer is a scrappy guy that will get you at least 10 points with a couple of assists and rebounds per game. He also can be a decent source of 3-pointers and steals. Be careful, however, because he will put up some disappointing numbers on occasional nights. He’s worth a look in my opinion.

PF, C Josh McRoberts (CHA): In his last few contests, points haven’t been there for the former Duke star. However, he is averaging 5.2 rebounds and 4.1 assists per game on the season. McRoberts also provides some value from long distance, hitting 1.3 3-pointers per game. He is consistent and worth grabbing in all leagues.

C Andrew Bynum (IND): This is definitely a “get lucky” pick-up, but if you have room on your team, why not? Bynum signed a contract with the Pacers on Saturday, and he will earn $1 million. He will be one of two backups to starting center Roy Hibbert, but you never know with this guy. In 24 games with the Cleveland Cavaliers, Bynum averaged 8.4 points and 5.3 rebounds per game. Hopefully, that contract will get him going fantasy-wise.
