Here’s who is offering water near and around UT campus

As inclement weather continues, individuals on campus, in West Campus and around Austin have reported a shortage or lack of water. 

Austin Water issued a citywide boil notice for all residents on Wednesday at 8:30 p.m. according to a press release. The boil notice includes UT, West Campus and Riverside. 


Residents must boil water for two minutes before consumption. For more information on this check out this story on how to navigate the boil water notice. 

The Daily Texan has compiled a list of places offering water both for free and for purchase near and around UT campus. The Texan was not able to find locations offering water within walking distance, please use caution when driving.  

Saturday Feb. 20: 

For a list of open convenience stores, see our list of what’s open and closed around UT campus. The Texan cannot confirm if the open grocery and convenience stores currently have water. 

Establishments Offering Free Water 

Mozart’s Coffee Roasters located at 3825 Lake Austin Blvd. will be giving out free water Saturday from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Customers must bring their own containers. There are two options: customers can take one of the 30-gallon pots of boiled water while supplies last, or take unboiled water. There is a 5 gallon limit per customer.

Spreadsheet of Student Volunteers 

On Thursday evening, @egghuev0 tweeted a Google form asking for volunteers to consider donating or boiling water. 

This spreadsheet contains a list of students who filled out the form with their name, email address, where they live in Austin and what water they are able to provide. The spreadsheet is frequently being updated, and as of Saturday, has more than 100 volunteers. 

Friday Feb. 19: 

Establishments Offering FREE Water 

All campus warming centers have bottled water available for students who show their UT ID. The warming centers include the Texas Union, Gregory Gym and the San Jacinto Residence Hall.

Daily Bread Austin located at 2100 San Antonio St. has water being boiled Friday for those who bring their own containers. You must message [email protected] with how much you need. 

St. Elmo Brewing Co. at 440 E. St. Elmo St. is offering hot and cold water from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. Friday, according to Austin360. Bring a sanitized container. 

Simply Rain Water is offering free bottles of water at the Meteor Cafe at 2110 S Congress Ave. from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. and at Gabriela’s restaurant at 900 E 7th St. from 1 to 2:30 p.m. Friday, according to Austin360. 

Prep to Your Door food delivery service is giving away potable water at 507 Calles St. from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Friday, according to Austin360. Enter through the patio door next to the Uber office.

Austin Beer Garden Brewing Company at 1305 W. Oltorf St. is giving away water from 11:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday. Bring your own containers. 

Hop Squad Brewery Co. at 2307 Kramer Ln. is giving away water from 12 p.m. Bring your own containers. 

Natural Grocers at 4615 N. Lamar Blvd. is giving away two free gallons of tap water that must be boiled until Tuesday Feb. 23. Continue to check their website for changing hours of business. 

The Brewtorium at 6015 Dillard Cir. is giving away drinking water during limited hours this week, according to Austin360. People must bring their own containers. 

Black Star Co-op at 7020 Easy Wind Dr. is offering water during limited hours this week to people who bring containers, according to Austin360.

Meanwhile Brewing at 3901 Promontory Point Dr. is offering drinkable water starting at 10 a.m. Friday and until supplies run out. Bring your own containers. 

Batch Craft Beer & Kolaches at 3220 Manor Rd. is giving away water to people who bring containers. 

Party Barn at 3300 Guadalupe St. is offering hose usage. Exact times unknown. Bring your own containers.

Adelbert’s Brewery at 2314 Rutland Dr. is giving away water from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m. Friday to people who bring their own containers. 

Rebel Cheese at 2200 Aldrich St. is offering boiled water to people who bring their own containers. Exact times are unknown.

Establishments offering drinkable water for purchase
Valero gas station at 3909 Guadalupe St. has limited water bottles for sale as of 2:30 p.m. Thursday. As of Friday 1 p.m these locations are restocking but status is pending.

As of 3 p.m. on Thursday the Shell at 2400 Rio Grande St. is out of water, but has Gatorade and other drinks available for purchase. Cash only.  As of Friday at 1 p.m.  these locations are restocking but status is pending.

Neuces Mart located at 2700 Nueces St. is open until midnight. Supplies are limited. 

Bodega on Rio at 2101 Rio Grande St. is open Friday until midnight, according to store employees. Supplies are limited. 

Orange Market located at 910 W 25th St is open Friday, according to student sources. However, The Daily Texan did not receive a response. Supplies are limited.

Thursday Feb. 18:
