Former McDonald’s All-American and Texas freshman guard Arterio Morris is going into the transfer portal. The news was first reported by On3’s Joe Tipton.

Morris averaged 4.6 points, 1.4 rebounds and 0.5 assists on 41.1% shooting from the field. He appeared in 38 games for the Longhorns. Morris set a career high of 25 points against Louisiana on Dec. 21.

“I want to thank everyone who has supported me along the way, particularly my family, coaches, teammates and fans,” Morris said in a statement to Tipton. “Without all of you, I would not be where I am today.”

Morris was recruited to Texas by former head coach Chris Beard, who is now the head coach at Ole Miss.

“I have discussed my future with my family and I’ve decided to enter my name in the transfer portal to find a new home that will allow me to grow as a basketball player, maximize my ability to support my teammates and help my team win games,” said Morris. “I am excited for the next steps of my journey. I will continue to work to be the best person I can, both on and off the floor.”
