University police officers arrested an individual on Sunday for driving while intoxicated after the individual crashed a vehicle on campus early that morning, according to a Tuesday police report.
Officers responded to the collision at the intersection of 24th Street and Whitis Avenue at 7 a.m. on Sunday. The vehicle contained four passengers, including one minor. Neither the driver nor passengers are UT affiliated, UTPD confirmed. None of the subjects were injured, but the crash damaged the crossing guard kiosk across the street from the Barbara Jordan statue. The front of the car went through the window of the kiosk, shattering the glass and cracking a concrete sign.
University spokesperson Mike Rosen said UT is in conversation with contractors, and the cost and timing of the repair are unclear.
