The No. 3 Texas Longhorns will travel to Fayetteville to take on the Razorbacks of Arkansas in the 12th week of the college football season. Currently sitting at 3–3 in the conference and 5–4 overall on the season, let’s introduce ourselves to the key faces of Arkansas football.
Taylen Green: Quarterback
After spending three seasons at Boise State, the former 3-star dual-threat quarterback has joined the Razorbacks for his fourth season of college football as a redshirt junior. This year, Green has played in nine games and thrown for 2,214 yards and 11 touchdowns. Green also has 161 total completions on the year, and it will take just five receptions against No. 3 Texas to throw for a career-high in passes caught in a season. In Arkansas’ last game against Ole Miss in week 10, where the Rebels won 63-31, Green threw for just 10 completions on 14 attempts for 158 yards. Green was also sacked a season-high five times. Green is truly a dual-threat quarterback, as the junior has also run for 411 yards.
Ja’Quinden Jackson: Running Back
Jackson spent three years at Utah before joining the Razorbacks this season after starting his college career with the Longhorns. Rated the fifth-best running back in his class, the redshirt senior has been a major piece to the Arkansas offense. Running for 592 yards and 10 touchdowns on 104 carries, Jackson leads all Arkansas rushers. In the air, Jackson has hauled in an additional 11 catches for 125 yards. Jackson missed Arkansas’ last two games against Mississippi State and Ole Miss as he was dealing with an ankle injury, but the former four-star recruit is expected to lace up his cleats against Texas in week 12.
Andrew Armstrong: Wide Receiver
From Dallas, Texas, Armstrong started playing college football at FCS school Texas A&M Commerce. He spent four seasons there before transferring to Arkansas last year. Now in his second season as a Razorback, Armstrong has become Green’s favorite target, leading the team in both receptions and yards with 55 catches for 857 yards. The second favorite target, Isaiah Sategna, has just 29 receptions. Armstrong is a major component in the Razorback passing game, and is expected to play a big role in disrupting the stellar Texas secondary.
Xavian Sorey Jr: Linebacker
A transfer from Georgia and formerly the fourth-best linebacker in his class, the former four-star leads the Razorbacks in assisted tackles with 43 and total tackles with 73. With one sack on the season and one interception as well, Sorey is a major piece to this Arkansas defense.
