Touchdown Texas! After two passes from Manning at 26 and 42 yards each, Wisner ran the ball in for a one-yard trip to the endzone. The extra point is good and Texas cuts into Florida’s lead, 29-21 with 3:20 left on the clock.
Coming off a bye week, Texas football is in Gainesville for the first contest in a series of road games as Southeastern Conference play descends upon the Longhorns. Although Texas sits at 3-1, playing the Florida Gators in their home, “The Swamp”, is no cake walk — even if Florida is 1-3 entering week five of college football.
The Gators are injured, but they’re hungry. Sophomore quarterback DJ Lagway is back to face off against Texas’ defense which has recently been rated best in the country in defensive stops by ESPN, but will have freshman receiver Dallas Wilson back on the field as a weapon. Several Gators defenders are also out, including sophomore edge LJ McCray and redshirt sophomore defensive lineman Caleb Banks.
Redshirt sophomore quarterback Arch Manning will continue to test his mettle against this Florida defense, and he should be able to find plenty of openings with so many key players out. Texas has junior running back Quintrevion Wisner back on the field after he was sidelined for much of the non-conference schedule, and sophomore receiver Emmett Mosley V will be making his first start.
The ball will be kicked off at 2:30 p.m. CT. Follow this thread for live updates from Gainesville!
