Texas redshirt sophomore quarterback Arch Manning did not practice Monday morning, according to head coach Steve Sarkisian during Monday’s press conference.
“He’s in protocol right now,” Sarkisian said during the conference. “We’ll have more information as the week goes.”
Manning is taking precautions and is under concussion protocol following a hit from the first play of overtime in Saturday’s Mississippi State game.
After a timeout by Sarkisian, Manning broke out of the pocket and went on a 13-yard scramble before landing at the 12-yard line and slamming his head on the turf in the process.
It took Manning several minutes to get up and be helped off the field, and he appeared woozy as he entered the medical tent. Manning didn’t come out the rest of the game, only popping his head out to watch senior quarterback Matthew Caldwell throw the game-winning touchdown in overtime.
More information on Manning’s status going into the Vanderbilt game will be available with Wednesday’s injury report.
