Texas softball locked in seven high school standouts to its 2026 signing class on Wednesday.
Outfielder Josie Busceme is an Austinite who was named to the All-District first-team and won a golden glove as the defensive MVP for her performance in the 2025 season. During her junior year, Busceme logged a .508 batting average and .683 on-base percentage.
Texas softball is also adding a dual-threat outfielder and catcher with Stevie South, who registered a .535 batting average and a .639 on-base percentage. She has experience internationally with her victories at the U-15 WBSC World Cup and the 2023 Utsugi Cup Championship.
“A true left-handed thrower and hitter, Stevie adds athleticism and experience to the class of 2026,” head coach Mike White said to Texas Athletics.
Texas softball is also adding two utility players to its roster with Jordynn Booe and Aubrey Portie. Booe holds multiple records at her high school in Pflugerville with 152 career hits, 124 runs scored, 47 stolen bases, 342 strikeouts and 277 innings pitched. Booe helped Weiss High School clinch the 5A Area Championship in 2025.
Portie is a 2025 5A State Champion and was awarded the American Press Female Athlete Award in 2025. In her junior season, she posted a .519 batting average with 42 hits, 14 home runs and 48 RBIs.
“My dream has always been to play on the biggest stage possible,” Portie said to Texas Athletics. “I can’t wait to become part of the winning tradition and make my mark.”
Pitcher Madi Doty of Grandview, Texas, is ranked as the No. 3 pitcher in the class of 2026 and sixth overall, according to Softball America. Doty helped her team win a 16-Under Alliance Co-Championship while collecting Co-Tournament MVP honors for herself. Doty also led Grandview High School to a Texas UIL Division I State Championship, where she was recognized as the MVP for her performance in the final game.
Infielder Annie Abdullah is a two-time Dade County Player of the Year at Doral Academy in Doral, Florida. She’s been ranked the No. 5 position player in the class of 2026 and the No. 12 overall recruit by Softball of America. Abdullah has experience playing on the international stage for the USA, winning gold at the U-18 WBSC World Cup and the 2023 U-15 WBSC World Cup.
“She’s a smooth-fielding shortstop and is a top-five recruit in the country,” White said.
Catcher and first baseman Mia Clemmer is the last addition to the 2026 signing class. Her clutch performances led Coahoma High School to three Texas 3A State Championships. Additionally, she was named First-Team All-American by MaxPreps and garnered two catcher of the year awards.
“Mia is a clutch hitter and excellent receiver behind the plate,” White said.
With the Longhorns’ 2026 class set, the program has high hopes that the experience and talent these athletes bring will serve the program well and lead them to another national championship.
