After Texas soccer’s underwhelming 2025 season, finishing with a 4–12–1 record and missing the SEC tournament, the Longhorns have chosen to make some big changes to the program.
In a statement released by Texas Athletics on Monday, athletic director Chris Del Conte stated Texas soccer will move in a new direction following the 2025 season, parting ways with longtime head coach Angela Kelly, who has been with the program since December 2011.
“After the season, we took time to reflect on this year, the future of Texas Soccer and where the program is headed,” Del Conte said in the statement. “Following thoughtful discussion, we think it is in the best interest of The University of Texas to move in a new direction.”
Since being hired, Kelly has taken the Longhorns soccer program through one of the most successful times in its history, winning three conference championships and making eight appearances in the NCAA Tournament, with two trips to the Sweet 16.
While at the helm, Kelly fostered 66 All-Conference selections and eight All-American honorees. Kelly ends her tenure in Austin with a 161–90–35 record across 14 seasons.
Kelly also got the opportunity in the statement to say farewell to the program she’s led for well over a decade, highlighting her gratitude and thanking the players and coaches with whom she’s gotten the chance to work.
“I am sincerely grateful to have had the privilege to lead the Texas Soccer Program for the past 14 seasons,” Kelly said. “I want to extend my deepest appreciation to our staff and all of the student-athletes that have represented the burnt orange. I will always cherish the relationships that have been made and will forever hold them close to my heart.”
