Texas had to fight for every one of its 68 points against the top-ranked Baylor Bears in a 96-68 losing effort.
Arguably the most dominant player in women’s college basketball, Baylor’s Brittney Griner, had her way with the Longhorns. She managed an efficient 29 points in 30 minutes, as well as 12 rebounds and seven blocks.
The Longhorns, who were down 50-22 at halftime, had a tough time finding their shot all afternoon. Battling the flu, Texas’ normally sure-handed scorer Chassidy Fussell only had 11 points on 4-of-17 shooting and overall Texas hit 20 percent from the floor. Ashleigh Fontenette led the Longhorns with 23 points.
