Tower lighting ceremony set for Saturday to honor Men’s Golf National Title

Nick Cremona

Saturday, June 9th, at approximately 8:30 p.m., the UT Tower will be lit burnt orange with the number “1” on all four sides in recognition of the men’s golf recent NCAA Championship victory over Alabama.

The 3-2 match play win over the Crimson Tide was the Longhorns’ eighth team victory this year, and first national title won in golf since back-to-back national championships in 1971-1972.

It will also be the first time for the tower to bear the number “1” since 2010, when men’s swimming and diving captured the NCAA crown. Students and fans alike are invited to share in this momentous event on Saturday evening on the steps of the tower.
