Longhorns start tough week with rival Oklahoma

This weekend the Longhorns embark on one of their toughest stretches so far this season. On Saturday Texas will travel to Norman to face long-time rival Oklahoma in the first of three games in six days for the Longhorns. After stopping in Norman, the Longhorns will head to Fort Worth to take on TCU on Halloween before coming back to Austin for a home game against Kansas State Nov. 2.

Texas is fresh off of a 3-1 home victory against Baylor. With the win, the Longhorns extended their conference record to 9-0, two games ahead of second place Kansas, with a season record of 17-3. The last time Texas started the conference 9-0 was in 2009, when it ultimately finished as NCAA championship runner-up behind Penn State.

Earlier in the season, Texas hosted Oklahoma in its Big 12 season home opener and swept the team, 3-0. Oklahoma has a conference record of 5-3 and is fifth in the Big 12 with a 16-7 season record.

“It’s a great team, has a lot of athleticism and it’s a great event,” head coach Jerritt Elliott said of Oklahoma.

Texas and Oklahoma will begin their match Saturday at 2 p.m.
