The Longhorns return to the Texas Swim Center this weekend to host their first seasonal meet at home. The men’s team returns from Mansfield, Texas, where they emerged triumphant from the four-team Southwest Collegiate Plunge.
The meet this weekend will feature three head-to-head competitions between Texas, Michigan and Indiana. Last year these three teams met in Ann Arbor, Michigan, with mixed results. Both the Texas men’s and women’s teams defeated Indiana, but the men narrowly lost to Michigan.
This event will be broadcast on the Longhorn Network with commentary from Olympians John Naber and Brendon Hanson, a former Longhorn swimmer. The Friday competition will contribute to the overall team scores, while Saturday events will not be scored and will not affect final team results. The meet will begin Friday at 3 p.m., and each event will have two heats. The women’s swimming and diving team will join the men’s team this weekend. Two athletes from each team will represent Texas in each event.
The swimmers are scheduled to dive into the water Saturday by 10 a.m., while divers should be hopping in at 11:30 a.m.
