The Longhorns went head to head against Indiana and Michigan at the Lee & Joe Jamail Texas Swim Center this weekend with mixed results.
On Friday the Longhorns repeated their 2011 performance in the same competition, splitting the meet once again with a loss to Michigan. The victory against Indiana was by a 185-115 margin, while the loss to Michigan was by a 194-106 count. Michigan went 2-for-2 on Friday with a 223-77 victory over Indiana.
The UT diving team swept the Friday evening competition. Junior William McCraney, freshman Sean O’brien and junior Will Chandler took first, second and third respectively in the one-meter springboard. Chandler and McCraney also took first and second in the three-meter springboard event.
The teams returned to the pool Saturday for the unscored portion of the meet, where Texas earned 6 victories. Saturday’s events included unconventional races, like the 50 breaststroke, backstroke and butterfly.
“We have a pet-name for October,” Eddie Reese, swimming and diving head coach, said. “We call it ‘Rocktober’. And then for November, it’s `Slow-vember.’ So, we’re going into Slow-vember. We just started early.”
