In its second exhibition game of the spring season, Texas defeated St. Edwards 2-1.

Texas got up early with a goal in the opening few minutes of the game. Junior forward Allison Smith scored off a volley that soared past the Hilltoppers’ keeper. The Longhorns struck again just a couple minutes later when senior midfielder Gabby Zarnegar placed the ball in the far corner of the net off of a rebounded shot.

The Longhorns spent the rest of the game with different personnel groupings and lineups and was not able to score again. With the game winding down, St. Edwards was able to take advantage of a corner kick to keep Texas from a clean sheet. The Texas defense couldn’t clear the ball before the Hilltoppers put it in the back of the net.

Texas will continue its spring season as it hosts North Texas next Saturday at 2 p.m.
