CHICAGO — A 50-state study says those with the most gun laws have the fewest gun-related deaths.
The research doesn’t prove that the number of laws makes a difference. And some experts say this kind of comparison is hard to do because states are different in so many ways.
The authors are from Boston Children’s Hospital and Harvard University. They analyzed four years of government data and data from a gun control advocacy group.
The study was published online Wednesday in the medical journal JAMA Internal Medicine. It comes as policymakers at every level are weighing how to respond to recent high-profile acts of gun violence.
